Young Leaders in Training

Seventeen players aged 17–25 are being offered coaching and leadership education through the NIF/NBBF system. The participants are primarily youth who have grown up in our local community, and all are active members of Frøya Basket. They will be employed as coaches or assistant coaches within the club, giving them the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally.

🌍 International Exchange Through Sports4Understanding

Frøya Basket is proud to be part of the international project "Sports4Understanding", which offers our young players and coaches the opportunity to participate in exchange programs with countries such as Spain, Greece, and Cyprus.

Through this program, participants engage in cross-cultural activities that focus on personal development, teamwork, and core values. By sharing experiences and learning from other cultures, our youth gain valuable perspectives that help us grow both as individuals and as a club.

The initiative is supported by Erasmus+, which provides essential financial backing and makes these opportunities possible.

This program is also closely tied to our Young Leadership development efforts. By participating, our young coaches not only grow in their coaching skills but also as confident, responsible leaders — both on and off the court.

The club provides close follow-up by ensuring they receive regular feedback on their work as coaches. The project began in October 2020 and will run until mid-June 2027.

This is a long-term initiative designed to span several years, with a rotation of participants over time.

Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in the Development Staff Team (DST) and we aim to send them to coaching clinics in Europe when possible.

Our Young Leadership initiative is proudly supported by Sparebanken Vest and BUFDIR (The Norwegian Directorate for Children, Youth and Family Affairs).
